Today I’m on Penguin’s blog, talking a little bit about an easy way you can get acquainted with your characters—by spending a whole day with them while doing your regular routine. (Just be careful…sometimes it’s easy to get carried away!) Hope you’ll pop by and join me.
I’m also on Joanna Penn’s blog, The Creative Penn, talking a bit about the appeal of a small town setting (and why I choose it over and over again!) Thanks, y’all!
Elizabeth – I would have commented over at Penguin, but you have to register and be a member to comment there. I really like the questions you pose about one’s own characters. The better we know them, the better we can write about them. I often find myself asking what my protag would do in a given situation and it really helps me focus and write him better.
Two great posts. I especially loved the one about taking Lulu with you. I’m in the getting-to-know-my-characters stage right now. I’m going to take my protagonist along with me for a week or two. Then I’ll leave her at home and take the villain :) Thanks for such a great idea.
Margot–Yes, and that’s always a pain! Thanks for commenting here. And you’re right–that’s a good question to ask. Because usually they’d do things differently than we would!
I hope you’re having fun on this tour. You’re definitely busy.
You’re busy today. I’m jumping over to the penguin page >:)
Cold As Heaven
Carol–Hope you have fun with her!
Helen–It’s been busy, but most of it has been on the front end of the tour. I’m coasting now, in comparison. :)
CaH–Thanks!
